The Trump administration is rescinding federal grants for recreational trails and bicycle projects awarded under the $1.1 trillion infrastructure law signed by President Joe Biden, citing a focus on road capacity and opposition to projects “hostile to motor vehicles,” AP reported.

Letters sent to local governments in at least six states — Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New Mexico — informed officials that previously announced funding would be withdrawn.

Among the affected projects were a $5.7 million trail in Connecticut, an $11.5 million Albuquerque rail trail, a $20 million Boston streetscape upgrade, and small-scale traffic safety improvements in San Diego and Illinois.
