Syracuse, N.Y. — Seventeen people have been charged in a major drug trafficking network that distributed fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine across Central New York, according to the state Attorney General’s Office.

The charges follow a months-long investigation led by the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF) that resulted in the seizure of more than 23 pounds of fentanyl — the largest fentanyl powder seizure in the task force’s history - according to an AG’s office news release issued Tuesday.

Authorities said that’s enough fentanyl to kill one New Yorker every six seconds for an entire year.

Police also seized nearly four pounds of cocaine and over 12 pounds of methamphetamine.
