SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
LiveCopter 3 pilot Dan Oppenheim shared his perspective on the medical helicopter crash on Highway 50 in Sacramento .
It was just after 7 p.m. when the REACH medical helicopter took off from UC Davis Medical Center when it crashed on Highway 50 near Stockton Boulevard.
Flight tracking data from ADS-B Exchange shows the helicopter reached its maximum altitude of 475 feet seven seconds after it took off, before it started losing altitude.
"The helicopter came to rest probably less than a quarter of a mile from the [UC] Davis Medical Center," Oppenheim noted.
The helicopter's last signal showed an altitude of 250 feet just 18 seconds after it took off, before it crashed on the highway. The entire flight lasted less than 30 seconds.
