A pilot has sustained serious injuries following a helicopter crash near Squamish on Tuesday.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) says the incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. involving a Bell 214 B-1 helicopter that was carrying an external load.

The pilot has been transported to a hospital in Vancouver for treatment.

It is unclear at the moment if there was anyone else in the helicopter.

The TSB has dispatched an investigation team to the crash site to gather more information.
