COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The suspect in the Brookstone Boulevard murder has been arrested, according to the Columbus Police Department. Authorities say there is no longer a threat to public safety related to this incident.
The investigation began Monday night when officers were called to the 6300 block of Brookstone Boulevard around 8:16 p.m. in reference to a possible burglary.
Upon arrival, officers noticed signs of forced entry into the home and found 65-year-old Norman Lane dead inside from gunshot wounds.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed Lane was shot with a shotgun, though it’s unclear how many times. A handgun was also found next to the victim.
The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
