HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It just keeps happening! A truck slammed into the Houston Avenue Bridge Sunday night, shutting down multiple lanes and scattering rubble across 1-10.
According to Tx-DOT, the Houston Avenue Bridge has been struck 72 times so far this year.
Records show eight of those times were so dangerous that they required police investigations.
"The whole thing vibrates when they slam that bridge," Jeff Ali, who owns the McCarty Truck Park, said. "One day, I think it will collapse, in my opinion."
The Houston Avenue Bridge is 14 feet, three inches tall.
Tx-DOT says the reason it gets hit so often is because truck drivers are either ignoring their designated routes or aren't getting the special state permits required for any trucks with loads higher than 14 feet.
