LEYDEN, Wis. (WKOW) – Dennis Beggs, a 63-year-old man from Leyden, has achieved a remarkable feat -- he has run 75 marathons in 17 states, more than 40 countries, and on all seven continents -- in just eight years.

"I did four continents in four weeks. And then so the next year I did five continents, five marathons, five weeks. The next year, I did six continents, six marathons, six weeks. And so obviously had to do all seven. I couldn't stop," Beggs said.

Beggs’ passion for running began with daily walks to visit his mother, who was battling Alzheimer's.

"Every night I go up and check on her, and so I'd walk up and I'd walk back. And one night, I thought, I'm gonna run," Beggs said.
