Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that the state government will provide Rs 35-40 lakh compensation to the families of sanitation workers in case of their death in an accident or disaster, with payments facilitated through banks.

He said that the government will also provide a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to sanitation workers.

During the occasion, the CM stated that those who disrespect Lord Valmiki are essentially insulting Lord Ram as well.

Adityanath made these remarks while addressing the Maharshi Valmiki Manifestation Day ceremony held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan under the aegis of Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Mahasabha Trust.
