SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - An inmate at the Sevier County Jail is now facing additional charges after officials said she brought illegal drugs into the jail.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Michael Hodges, staff at the jail responded to a medical situation involving female inmates Tuesday evening after noticing unusual behavior and a gathering in one of the housing units.
Upon further observation, Hodges said correctional officers determined that some of the inmates were showing signs consistent with possible drug exposure.
This required emergency medical assistance to be requested, and all potentially affected inmates were taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment, Hodges said. As of Tuesday evening, all inmates are reported to be in stable condition.
