ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department is seeking an independent review into the investigation of a man's death, ruled a suicide last year. Protesters gathered outside APD's headquarters Monday night, demanding answers about what happened to Jayvon Givan. A police report said that Givan, a black man, was found hanging outside a building near corrales road and 528 in September of last year. News of Givan's death recently resurfaced after Givan's sister called APD to report him missing. That's when police told her he had died.

An autopsy ruled Givan's death a suicide, saying no foul play was involved. Some on social media have called Gavin's death a lynching.
