Large propane tanks explode during fire in Bladensburg, firefighters say

BLADENSBURG, Md. — Firefighters responded to the scene of what they described as a “large fire and explosion” at a two-story warehouse in Bladensburg Tuesday night.

Crews responded to the scene in the 5100 block of Lawrence Place around 8 p.m. and found that the fire began outside but extended into the building.

Several large propane tanks reportedly exploded during the incident, but officials indicated that they were not the cause of the fire.

Fire officials say no injuries had been reported as of 8:47 p.m. They say the fire was out after 9:30 p.m.

Fire investigators have not disclosed what might have prompted the blaze.
