GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Alachua County School Board got an in-person visit from the state’s education commissioner during Tuesday night’s meeting.

Florida’s Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas says he’s outraged with the Alachua County School Board, and says they’re not putting students first.

He addressed the board and a packed room full of residents, many of whom came to support the board, telling them not to over-comply with the state’s demands.

His visit comes after a decision in August to monitor the school board throughout the school year.
