Incumbent Deno Hondros and Joe McGee will advance to the general election Nov. 4 after they received the most votes in the Fayetteville Council District 9 primary Oct. 7, according to unofficial results.
In addition to the top two-vote-getters, Gary A. Hunt was also on the primary ballot.
According to the results, Hondros had 816, or 60.44% of the vote; McGee had 289, or 21.41% of the vote; and Hunt had 245, or 18.15% of the vote.
Hondros, who was first elected to the City Council in 2022, is vying for a third term.
The Cumberland County Board of Elections is set to certify the results of the election during its canvass meeting Oct. 14.
