ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

With technology steadily enhancing law enforcement, the city has found a new tool when it comes to speeding: live streaming cameras.

On Monday, two cameras on Central Avenue at San Pedro Boulevard began sending real-time video of vehicles going east and west in an area where the speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph.

Albuquerque began installing speed cameras in 2022 due to dangerous speeding at intersections where collisions happen often, resulting in a decrease in the numbers of drivers going too fast.. This year, the city hired a new vendor that will put cameras six new locations soon and eight more by the end of the year.
