COLUMBIA, S.C. — A new development could soon reshape the BullStreet District near Segra Park.

A proposed seven-story boutique hotel took a step forward this week as Richland County Council approved the second reading of the project, along with an increase in infrastructure credits.

The $38 million project is being spearheaded by Maryland-based Vulcan Development. If finalized, the hotel is expected to bring approximately 50 full-time jobs to the Columbia area.

During a council meeting on September 16, Councilmember Allison Terracio described the proposal as a targeted investment in Columbia’s future.

“This is a different kind of project because it’s filling one of our strategic needs in the city,” Terracio said during the meeting.
