NORTH CHARLESTON — Police are actively investigating an Oct. 2 shooting that resulted in a man’s death hours after officers had found him wounded.
Jamichael Blair, 26, of Goose Creek died at the Medical University of South Carolina, according to the county coroner.
Authorities had found him lying on the ground outside a home in the 4800 block of Piedmont Avenue a little before 12:30 p.m. Oct. 2, according to an incident report. A responding police officer held pressure on Blair’s gunshot wound until emergency medical teams arrived.
Several witnesses told the officer they had heard upward of seven gunshots ring out that afternoon. The woman who called 911 said Blair had been taking out the trash when he was shot, the report states.
