GRAND BLANC, Mich. (WOOD) — Hundreds of people filled the stands at Grand Blanc High School Tuesday evening for what organizers called a night of reflection — honoring the 12 victims killed and injured in last month’s deadly attack at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Community members, first responders and local leaders came together to grieve, honor and begin healing.
“Tonight we take back Grand Blanc,” Grand Blanc Community Schools superintendent Trevor Alward said as the vigil began.
The mood was somber, but many leaders harped on one message: Healing will come through unity.
“It’s been a heavy, heavy couple of weeks — very somber in the community,” Alward said.
