BESSEMER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Leaders and residents in Jefferson County are weighing in on a proposal that could reshape hundreds of acres in Bessemer, including plans for a massive data center described as the size of 18 Walmart Supercenters.

City officials say the project would represent one of the largest investments in Alabama history, but not everyone is on board.

Residents near Rock Mountain Lake Road say they are concerned about how the project could affect their community.

Ronald Morgan, who has lived in the area for more than 15 years, believes the outcome is already decided.

“I think they are going to pass it because they’ve already made up their minds they are going to pass it,” says Morgan.
