AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Kids Incorporated held the groundbreaking of Rockrose Park, soon to be the largest youth sports complex in Amarillo.
Parents and young athletes from across the Panhandle were in attendance to celebrate this milestone.
President and CEO of Kids Inc., Jimmy Lackey envisions this $30 million dollar complex will make Amarillo more of a destination for youth sporting events, driving the local economy.
“We could have regional tournament and regional play here that can bring a lot of folks to town. It would put heads in beds, and sales tax dollars in our restaurants and shops around town,” he said.
Lackey says the new complex is designed with today’s kids — and future generations who will play on these fields — in mind.
