ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Georgia Department of Public Health is administering the COVID-19 vaccine through its health departments across the state following new recommendations from the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The vaccines are available based on the current supply. More vaccines are expected soon.

Those interested are encouraged to call their local health department to see if the vaccine is available, the Georgia agency said.

Recently, the CDC adopted recommendations by a new group of vaccine advisers, and stopped recommending COVID-19 shots for anyone — leaving the choice up to patients.
