IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The US Concealed Carry Association says armed security teams are the best way to protect places of worship from deadly attacks.

Shootings in places of worship are rare, but there have been multiple shootings in churches in the past few months.

Those high profile cases are drawing a response, and Wednesday a group offered guidance and promoted self-defense liability insurance the group also sells.

Judson Alford is a firearms instructor with the US concealed Carry Association.

Tuesday afternoon he taught a group of around 20 people how to form armed security teams, aiming to protect places of worship from mass shootings.

“It is a necessity these days. You cannot fight fire with dirt so to speak, you have to fight fire with fire,” Alford said.
