ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Cardinal Ritter is helping parents file complaints against an Ohio police department after officers pepper-sprayed football players after a game.
The Massillon Police Department released video showing the moment two officers pepper-sprayed members of the Cardinal Ritter football team.
According to the department, after the game ended between Cardinal Ritter and Washington High from Ohio, there were multiple physical altercations during the post-game “handshake”.
Police say they gave multiple commands to Cardinal Ritter players to leave the field and they did not.
As police say they tried to de-escalate the scene, they were concerned about band and cheer members on the field, leading to two officers using pepper spray.
