At just six years old, Lochinvar's Jude Murdoch has had more medication, needles and hospital visits than many will have in their lifetime.

Jude, who has a rare genetic autoimmune disease, is dependent on daily antibiotics and weekly plasma infusions.

His mum Olivia is calling for more Hunter people to donate blood plasma, as Jude's life depends on it.

This week Jude will have his 250th plasma infusion, and each infusion needs up to 15 plasma donations, so Jude has relied on hundreds of donors to keep him healthy and well.

On Wednesday, October 8 Jude and his mum visited Lifeblood Maitland to thank donors and encourage more people to donate.

"When people go and donate their blood and their blood plasma, they should know that it's helping a little boy stay alive," Olivia said.
