Police said they were called to Annaluke Street in Riverstone after reports of a shooting about 6pm on Wednesday.
A man was found with gunshot wounds, and he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but he died at the scene.
A crime scene was established, and the man is yet to be formally identified.
A short time later emergency services were called to nearby Riverstone Road, following reports of a car fire.
