A man in Volusia County is accused of committing an armed carjacking before ditching the car and ending up in mangroves in the Halifax River.
"I realized, you know, my life is in danger right now. I probably shouldn't fight this," said the victim of the carjacking, who wanted to be identified only as Kyle.
He said he was trying to get home after dark Monday night when he said he saw a man waving him down on A1A.
"He said he needed a ride," Kyle said. "After taking a look at him, I thought, this guy is sketchy. I said nope. I started to pull forward, but he stayed with the window, and that's when he said, 'I need this' … said, 'No, I need this.' That's when I realized he had a gun pointed at me."
