Livingston boss David Martindale has revealed some nagging from former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat encouraged him to snap up new signing Joshua Brenet. ‌

The 31-year-old full-back joined the Lions last week as a free agent, having not played club football since March 2024 when he was playing at Dutch Eredivisie giants FC Twente. ‌

However, he has been playing under Advocaat at national side Curacao as they bid to qualify for next summer’s FIFA World Cup. ‌

The Dutchman is keen for him to get regular minutes under his belt to boost their chances of playing in the finals, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

And Martindale admitted Advocaat had a big hand in encouraging the signing.
