Guwahati, Oct 8: In a major development in the probe into the death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, the CID on Wednesday arrested his cousin and Assam Police Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandipan Garg.

According to CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta, Sandipan Garg’s arrest marks the fifth detention in the high-profile case. “We have arrested Sandipan Garg. Now, we are completing the necessary legal formalities,” Gupta said.

Sandipan Garg, who was present with the singer during the alleged drowning incident in Singapore last month, had been interrogated several times over the past few days before his arrest.

The officer was produced before a local court, and the CID said it will seek his police remand for further questioning.
