ROCHESTER, Minn.- The City of Rochester approved a call for bids for an upcoming Rochester Sports Complex on Monday, Oct. 6.
By trying to lock in contractors this fall for the upcoming $65 million project the city hopes to save around one to two million dollars by avoiding competition with private developers and Mayo Clinic during the usual winter bidding rush in 2026.
The project city is hoping to have construction last from Spring of 2026 to the Spring or Summer of 2027.
The finished design will include 8 baseball diamonds, a dozen pickle ball courts and two all purpose fields.
As part of agenda to approve the bid advertisement city staff also discussed ways to make sure community members could also have increased access to indoor recreation.
