EAST LANSING – Michigan State was attempting to close out a lengthy scoring drive and cut the deficit in half on the road.

Then quarterback Aidan Chiles got ambushed and driven into the turf with nearly 600 pounds of Cornhuskers on him.

After being looked at by trainers, the junior was taken to the injury tent and it was Alessio Milivojevic’s turn to lead the huddle. A tough spot to be in for a redshirt freshman whose lone previous career pass attempts were both intercepted.

Milivojevic didn’t flinch in his first meaningful college snaps by finishing the drive with a touchdown pass to tight end Jack Velling before rushing for a score late in last week’s 38-27 loss at Nebraska.

“There’s some silver linings all the time, you get some frustrations when you lose games,” said coach Jonathan
