On Thursday, the Rotary Club of Marion recognized Cora Dowdle and Anna Maria Leon-Wright of McDowell Early College as the Students of the Week.

They were presented to the club by Rotarian Carlos Lopez and received certificates from President Steve Hunter.

Dowdle is the daughter of Josh and Amy Dowdle of Marion. She is in the 12th grade at McDowell Early College.

Her future plans are to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to pursue an undergraduate degree in speech and hearing sciences and then pursue her master’s degree and Ph.D. in speech language pathology.

Her school or community recognitions include being a member of the National Honor Society and receiving the Academic Award for maintaining an unweighted GPA of 4.0. She has served as a junior marshal and receive
