Organizers of this weekend’s National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores have announced a new partnership that will provide assurance that domestic shrimp are served at the event.
The partnership involves SeaD Consulting, a company that embarrassed the festival in 2024 with a report that many of its vendors were serving imported shrimp even though patrons were led to believe the festival showcased domestic seafood.
The festival opens Thursday and runs through Sunday adjacent to the main public beach in Gulf Shores. Admission is free, and the main attractions are arts & crafts, live entertainment and seafood.
A key third party in the new arrangement is the Organized Seafood Association of Alabama , based in coastal Alabama.
