Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma, launched a strong attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of distorting facts, twisting history, and using the demand for statehood to hide governance failures.

Addressing a press conference at Srinagar, Sunil Sharma termed Omar Abdullah’s renewed statehood pitch a “political diversion” from his record of corruption, civilian harm, and suppression of dissent.

“Do you want statehood to become a tool to justify the killing of innocent Kashmiris?” he asked.

Under Omar’s rule, fear prevailed, schools were shut, and civilians—not militants—were targeted, he said.

He reminded that statehood existed under the National Conference between 1982 and 2014, yet those years saw rampant corruption and human rights violations.
