This year, the City of Yuma adjusted last weekend’s Tacos and Tunes festival from its traditional daylong format to a two-night “after dark” schedule, and by my estimation, the change resulted in a resounding success for the event.
The turnout felt significantly better than last year, with crowds packing Main Street from wall to wall and stretching significant lines from the windows of nearly every participating vendor.
The sun becomes a major factor at many public festivals, reducing the amount of time that people spend there, but this year it felt like the crowd arrived early and stayed through most of the night, enjoying a great lineup of performers.
The music also felt like more of a spectacle, with colorful lights illuminating the dancers and onlookers.
