In a high-intensity intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Orakzai District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Army personnel, including Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Arif and Major Tayyab Rahat, laid down their lives, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
The IBO, conducted around midnight, involved intense firefights with terrorists belonging to the India-backed Fitna al Khwarij group. Troops successfully neutralized the militants’ positions, killing 19 terrorists, ISPR added.
Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Arif, 39, and his second-in-command Major Tayyab Rahat, 39, both residents of Rawalpindi, led the operation from the front and embraced martyrdom alongside nine other soldiers.
