CHICAGO — Roughly 200 members of the Texas National Guard are deploying to Chicago this week, according to a report from WBBM, CBS News Chicago. The deployment, ordered by the Trump administration, comes amid growing tensions between federal and local officials over the use of troops in U.S. cities.

Troops spotted near Chicago

WBBM reports that National Guard troops wearing Texas patches were seen Tuesday at the U.S. Army Reserve Training Center in Elwood , about 50 miles southwest of Chicago. The guardsmen are expected to begin their assignments as early as Wednesday, ahead of a federal court hearing set for Thursday.
