PHOENIX (AZFamily/AP) — Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs will seek a second term in office.

Gov. Hobbs officially announced her reelection campaign Wednesday morning. She is set to be on Good Morning Arizona live at 7 a.m. to talk about the announcement.

Hobbs, a Democrat, has been the governor of Arizona since 2023 after serving as secretary of state from 2019 to 2023. She previously served in the Arizona Legislature beginning in 2011.

Hobbs will likely run unopposed in the 2026 gubernatorial primary.

On the Republican side, Rep. David Schweikert announced his candidacy for governor last week. He’ll join Rep. Andy Biggs and housing developer Karrin Taylor Robson , who are both endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the GOP primary.
