SRINAGAR : Panic erupted in the Keerian Gandayal outpost area under Lakhanpur police station in Jammu and Kashmir when a routine checkpoint turned violent on Wednesday. Follow Us On G -N e w s | Whatsapp

A police officer said that the police signalled a motorcycle coming from Punjab towards Jammu and Kashmir to stop, but the three youths riding the vehicle allegedly opened fire on the police party and attempted to flee.

During the pursuit, the motorcycle crashed near Keerian Ghariyal bridge, leaving all three riders seriously injured. They were immediately shifted to GMC Kathua, where the officer said the condition of one of the accused is critical.

The injured youths are believed to be linked to a drug trafficking network and were involved in narcotics smuggling
