Friday, Sept. 26: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security sends a memo to the U.S. Department of Defense requesting extra support for ICE and Federal Protective Service officers in Portland. The memo claims the officers have come under “coordinated assault by violent groups” intent on obstructing federal enforcement.

Saturday, Sept. 27 : President Trump posts on Truth Social that he’s authorizing “all necessary Troops” to protect “War ravaged Portland,” and also authorizing “Full Force, if necessary,” at the request of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. He wrote that he was directing his defense secretary to have troops ready to “any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa and other domestic terrorists.”
