ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Supreme Court could soon create a pathway for opponents of mail-in voting to challenge state election practices.
The Court is preparing to hear a case on Wednesday, filed by Illinois Republican Congressman Mike Bost, over who has the legal standing to sue states over their election laws.
In this lawsuit, Rep. Bost challenges Illinois law that allows mail-in ballots to be counted up to 14 days after polls close, provided they are postmarked by Election Day.
However, a federal court ruled that Bost did not have valid legal standing to sue.
Although the suit focuses on Illinois law, members of both parties from across the country could be impacted by the court’s decision.
