(NewsNation) — Federal and local officials in California will give an update on the criminal investigation into a wildfire that ravaged Los Angeles' Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
According to local news outlet KNBC, authorities have made an arrest in the investigation, and a formal announcement is scheduled for Wednesday morning. The name of the person in custody and the charges they face have not yet been disclosed.
The fire began Jan. 7 and grew to more than 20,000 acres, killing 12 people, destroying 7,000 structures and causing an estimated $18-20 billion in insured losses alone.
An official cause has not yet been determined.
