A new survey shows that first-time buyers in Canada still seek single-family detached homes, a housing type increasingly out of reach in Vancouver and Toronto, but not in Edmonton where it remains an affordable option.
“Because detached single-family homes are more affordable here, first-time buyers don’t feel they need to get on that ladder starting with a condominium,” says Eddy Chang, real estate agent with Royal LePage Noralta Real Estate.
