WASHINGTON — David “Heavy D” Sparks, one of the stars of Discovery Channel’s “Diesel Brothers,” was taken into custody Tuesday after a federal judge issued a bench warrant related to an environmental lawsuit.

According to Salt Lake County jail records, Sparks was arrested Oct. 7 on a warrant stemming from a long-running Clean Air Act case. A federal judge in Utah ordered the arrest for contempt of court, citing Sparks’ failure to comply with court orders in connection with a civil lawsuit filed by Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment in 2017.

The lawsuit alleged that Sparks and his company violated the Clean Air Act by selling auto parts that disable emissions control systems on diesel trucks. In 2020, U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, finding
