**Manchester Synagogue Attack: Terrorist Act Unfolds** A tragic attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester has left two men dead and four others injured. The incident occurred last Thursday in the Crumpsall area, where 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz and 53-year-old Adrian Daulby lost their lives. Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) has provided new details regarding the assailant, Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, who was seen acting suspiciously just 15 minutes before the attack. Witnesses reported that he was confronted by synagogue security after being spotted outside the gates. However, he walked away when challenged. Al-Shamie later returned in a black Kia, driving the vehicle at bystanders and crashing through a wall. He then exited the car armed with a knife and began his assault. During the attack, he made a 999 call, pledging allegiance to the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS. Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts of CTP North West stated, "We have been told from witness accounts that a man, now confirmed to be Jihad Al-Shamie, was seen acting suspiciously outside the synagogue before he was confronted by security. This was not reported to police because the man walked away when challenged." Potts further explained that Al-Shamie had a second knife and was wearing a hoax device, which has since been confirmed as non-viable. Thanks to the quick actions of security staff and police, Al-Shamie was prevented from entering the synagogue. Greater Manchester Police have indicated that Al-Shamie may have been influenced by extreme Islamist ideology. In connection with the attack, four suspects have been arrested, including two men aged 30 and 32, and two women aged 46 and 61. An 18-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man were released without further action. Police have not disclosed the identities of those arrested or any links to Al-Shamie. The investigation continues as authorities work to understand the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
