A controversial Banksy artwork worth around £2m is to be sold by a cash-strapped council in a believed UK-first.

The mural depicting two children clinging to an inflatable dinghy and a distracted adult was daubed on a seawall in Gorleston, Norfolk in 2021.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) voted yesterday, Oct. 7, to sell the piece, which has been in storage since 2022 with help of Dutch auctioneers Hessink's.

The decision to sell has sparked a row as one art and Banksy dealer said the mural should stay local.

The artwork is yet to be valued, but other pieces within the "Great British Spraycation" series have already been sold, raking in huge sums of at least $2.6M.
