WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Grocery prices continue to climb across the country.
Recent polling shows that the majority of adults in the United States are stressed about the cost of groceries. Just 14% of households say the rising costs of groceries are not a source of stress for them.
Grocery prices rose 0.6% from July to August, the most significant one-month rise in the past three years, according to the Consumer Price Index. They are also nearly 30% higher than they were before the pandemic.
The prices of beef, poultry, fish, pork, and eggs have increased by 5.6% from last year, while the prices of beverages, such as coffee, have risen by 4.7%. While these costs affect every community, some parts of the country are paying more than others for necessities.
