Results have been leaner for recent Thanksgiving food drives for Sarnia’s Inn of the Good Shepherd food bank.

Executive director Myles Vanni, recalls pre-pandemic drives drawing 13,600 to 15,900 kilograms (30,000 to 35,000 pounds) of food donations for the John Street location.

“We’ve been doing about 25,000 (11,300 kg) on average the last three or four years,” Vanni said.

A stretch, 30,000-pound target for this year’s Oct. 5 to 19 drive would represent about two weeks’ supply for the food bank that serves 2,200 people monthly, he said.
