Van Sipma’s, a Homewood family-owned jewelry and watchmaking business, marked the start of a week-long 125th anniversary celebration on Saturday with an estate sale and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“I don’t think any of us sat down in the eight-hour span. We were just constantly talking to people, celebrating, showing jewelry,” said Ashley Van Sipma. “It was like even if people weren’t interested in the estate, they would still come in to say congratulations.”
Ashley Van Sipma is the daughter of the current owners and also works at the store. She and her sister grew up in the business, which has been owned by her father since before she was born.
