Longtime Detroit Red Wings forward Luke Glendening capitalized on his professional tryout with the New Jersey Devils, signing a one-year, one-way contract with the club for $775,000.
Glendening, a Grand Rapids native and former Michigan captain, spent eight seasons with the Red Wings as a grinder, checker and matchup center and established himself as a top faceoff man.
He spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning (14 goals, four assists in 158 games) following two seasons in Dallas.
Glendening, 36, has collected 166 career points (83 goals, 83 assists) and 308 penalty minutes) in 864 regular season games.
Glendening also played two seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins and was a key contributor to their 2013 Calder Cup championship.
