Mike Jones temporarily relived the dejection he felt from Southern’s last game.
The redshirt senior linebacker’s facial expression grew more serious when remembering how the team felt after its most recent 38-13 loss to Jackson State . His unemotional manner and deadpan delivery demonstrated his disappointment more than his words could.
“It hurt a lot,” Jones said. “Me being here since (coach Eric) Dooley, it hurt.”
The pain he and his team share is inextricable from the team's discouraging record. The Jaguars are 1-4 for the first time since 2000.
“We definitely didn't expect to be where we are record-wise, but the reality is what it is,” said coach Terrence Graves.
