NEW YORK (PIX11) – REI is closing its flagship store in SoHo, as well as others in New Jersey and Boston.
The SoHo store will close in late 2026, but the store in Paramus, New Jersey, will close at the beginning of the year, the company said in a statement to PIX11 News.
The closures are a result of evolving customer needs and economic markets, according to the company.
“As markets and customer needs evolve, we must adapt to position the co-op for long-term success. We will continue serving members and customers at these locations until closing,” a spokesperson for the company said.
The outdoor gear shop sits in a three-story, 39,000-square-foot space on Lafayette Street. It opened in 2011 in the historic Puck Building as the “keystone” of three tri-state area stores, representatives o
